“Sacramento does pay higher wages.”
David Kong is with the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. BLS just released its annual snapshot of Sacramento wages which reflect what was happening in May of 2009.
Kong says Sacramento’s wages are traditionally about $3.00 higher than the rest of the country. But he says that’s not unusual in the Golden State.
“In many areas in California wages are higher than the nation. Part of it is living expenses are higher here so employers have to pay people more to attract them to the area.”
You’ll find one of California’s highest average hourly wages in San Jose…where it’s $32.11.
