Once a year, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District offers discounted electric rechargeable mowers to people who trade in their gas-powered models, to help reduce air pollution.
Spokesman Chris Capra says this year, they’ve got more mowers and bigger models.
“In the past, 1,200 was the most. So this is a very big year for us having 1,400. We have more to distribute. We also have a 19 inch model. So it’s a bigger cut for bigger yards. In years past, we had models that were limited to a 14 inch cut.”
You have to register to take part in the exchange…and it’s first-come-first served. SMUD will start registering people beginning at 11 AM Wednesday…either online or by phone.
The actual trade-in event is March 27th.
