Online help-wanted ads declined about three percent in March in the Sacramento region, the latest roller-caster report that details the still-sputtering economy. Sacramento-area employers posted 22,700 jobs in March and the closely watched Conference Board report has detailed some gains in recent months — with about 3,300 more jobs during the first quarter compared to the same period last year. However, with the abundance of job-seekers, that still means there are more than six people for every open position in the region.
But there is good news for job-seekers — Sprint Nextel Corp. will add about 125 employees to its call-center in Rancho Cordova. The Overland Park, Kansas-based wireless carrier already has about 300 employees at the local call center, and the new hires will help with the rollout of ClearWire’s 4G wireless network, which Sprint will market in the region.
