Nancy Lucia is an associate superintendent with the Sacramento region’s largest school district, Elk Grove Unified. She says despite three straight years in API growth, the district still has its work cut out.

Lucia: “In all of our areas, we continue to see that – although we’re showing growth – we certainly have an achievement gap.”

Eight-hundred is considered a strong showing.  Elk Grove’s API this year is 785. San Juan Unified is a point behind. Sac City, Natomas and Twin Rivers lag closer to 700. And Folsom-Cordova leads the way at 815.

The API stats are used to rank individual schools compared to other schools in the state.
