Spokeswoman Devra Selenis says they’re making major renovations to the 16th Street station.

Selenis: “We’re working on sidewalk improvements, raised boarding platforms, cosmetic improvements and also adding light poles, new seating and plant replacements.”

Work started Monday morning. It’s expected to take a full week.

During construction, light rail trains will operate through the 16th Street station to activate the crossing arms, but passengers will have to exit, board or transfer light rail lines at 13th Street. They can either walk the three blocks between the stations or take a bus.

RT says the 16th Street station will reopen next Monday before rush hour.
