1,300 people lost their federal government jobs last month. Another 500 state and local government workers became unemployed as well. And Alvarado says even though the private sector added jobs in manufacturing; leisure and hospitality; food services; and recreation, they weren’t enough to offset the government losses.
“In June, typically the private sector does gain jobs and we actually gained less than a typical June.”
