Insight: Prop. 23 / Mexican Bicentennial / Breaking the Light / North Sacramento


Prop 23 The November election is fast approaching and we begin our coverage with a discussion on Prop. 23, the ballot initiative that would suspend California's Global Warming Act of 2006. Today on Insight, we will talk with a proponent and an opponent of Prop 23. Assemblyman Dan Logue and entreprenuer Tom Steyer are debating the topic today at the Sacramento Press Club.

The Sacramento Press Club hosts a Prop. 23 debate between Dan Logue and Tom Steyer at noon today at The Capitol Plaza Halls, 1025 Ninth St., Sacramento.

Mexican Bicentenial Thursday is the Bicentennial of Mexico's Independence from Spain and many local celebrations are planned. We'll find out the history behind it.

The Grito de Independencia is from 4:45 to 9 p.m. today at the West Steps of the State Capitol.

"Breaking the Light" The world premiere production of a play called "Breaking the Light" opens this week in Sacramento at California Stage. It is a play about an ER Nurse reassigned to a Psych ward in an poorly managed hospital. We'll talk with dramaturg Rick Foster and director Penny Meagher about it.

"Breaking the Light" opens at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18th at the Threepenny Theater, 1715 25th St., Sacramento. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Information: (916) 451-5822.

North Sacramento History Local author Veronica Ehrenreich-Risner releases a new book featuring the history of North Sacramento. We'll talk with her about it.

Veronica Ehrenreich-Risner is signing books at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18th at the North Sacramento Hagginwood Library, 2109 Del Paso Blvd., Sacramento.
