Insight: Aging Out / Cal Expo / Peace and Freedom / Valerie Hemingway

Aging Out A new bill that would extend support for foster kids up to the age of 21 has passed the California legislature and is sitting on the Governor's desk. He has until Sept. 30th to sign it. We'll find out about AB 12 and what it would mean for thousands of foster kids in the state who currently "age out" of the system at 18.

Cal Expo The Cal Expo board voted 7 to 2 to reject the Convergence plan, which would have included a complicated land swap and moving the State Fair to Natomas. We'll talk with them about what that means and what the fair will do next. Plus, CPR's Ben Adler weighs in with response from the Mayor and the Convergence team.

Peace and Freedom Carlos Alvaraz, the Peace and Freedom Party's Gubernatorial candidate is in Sacramento for the next couple of days, including participating in a "third-party debate" outside the Meg Whitman-Jerry Brown debate on Tuesday. We'll talk to him about his candidacy.

Valerie Hemingway Freelance writer, editor and speaker Valerie Hemingway has written a book about her life with the Hemingway family. She worked as Ernest Hemingway's secretary and also married his son. She's in Stockton on Wednesday to talk about her book, "Running with the Bulls: My Years with the Hemingways."
