The City Council has already approved the idea of allowing cars back on K Street to help boost business at shops and restaurants. Now they have to actually put the plan in motion.
"This really is a chance for council to make the decision if we will be putting cars back on K Street."
Denise Malvetti is with the city's economic development department. She says council members will vote on environmental documents…as well as what the new K Street should look like and which consulting team should design it.
"The majority of the work actually is signal work and then the addition of some street lights to accommodate the new traffic on K Street."
Malvetti says construction could start in about six-months with cars back on K Street by this time next year.
