Potholes not only put wear and tear on your car…Brian Shine with the County's Transportation Department says they can also cause accidents as drivers dodge the bumps.
"People try to avoid them, they drive around them typically rather than drive right over them and experience the bumps."
Shine says with more than 5,200 lane miles of paved roadways in the county unincorporated area, it's inevitable that potholes will develop.
"Increased traffic volumes tend to wear out the pavement as well as weather."
Specifically - oxidation from the hot sun beating down on the pavement…and water infiltration when it rains.
Sweeps Week is starting in the Arden-Arcade area. The second phase of the project will move on to the southern part of the county near the end of the month.
