Investigators announced this week that they recovered more than $2 million worth of counterfeit compact discs and digital video discs.
"It's by far the biggest operation that we've investigated here."
D.T. Brown is a detective with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and part of the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force. He says the investigation began in Galt and eventually led detectives to homes, storage facilities and a warehouse in Sacramento, Modesto and San Jose.
Brown says the suspects were using several burning towers to copy the bogus movies and music recordings.
"In four minutes they could burn anywhere from 85 to 100 discs at a time."
Six people were taken into custody. Brown says the investigation is ongoing and additional suspects could soon be arrested.
