As of Wednesday night, there will be beds for around 250 individuals and families. The full 320 promised beds should be available by the weekend.
Tim Brown runs the region's effort to combat homelessness. He's relieved the shelter options are all ready to go.
Brown: "It's indeed a small miracle, because if you asked me four, five days ago, I would've been pretty doubtful. But it's feeling really good that the community is stepping up to get people out of the cold."
The winter shelter program includes motel vouchers, shelter beds … and a new "Winter Sanctuary" program. That's where churches volunteer to host up to 100 homeless people for a night or two at a time.
The Sanctuary program has a fundraising goal of 90-thousan dollars - but Brown says it's only raised enough money to make it through January.
