Elections matter, says Dave Jones. He's a former Sacramento city councilman who just finished up six years in the State Assembly. And he says voters want him to be an activist Insurance Commissioner - especially when it comes to implementing President Obama's health care overhaul. Congressional Republicans hope to repeal it - or at least de-fund it - but Jones says his office will pick up the slack.
Jones: "Even if Congress prevents the federal Department of Health and Human Services from enforcing federal health care reform, we will enforce it here in California."
Jones says his other priorities are to help consumers and businesses "level the playing field" against insurance companies … and make the state's insurance market "vibrant and competitive."
