Governor Brown has said he'll do things differently:
"There will not be a chief of staff, but we'll be announcing the official position, which in our statutes, is called the executive secretary, which I think describes the position."
Brown appointed two Executive Secretaries. Jim Humes
will cover Administration, Legal Affairs and Policy. He was
Brown's Chief Deputy when he was Attorney General. The
Governor has tapped Nancy McFadden as Executive Secretary for
Legislation, Appointments and Policy. She's a former Senior
Vice President at PG&E. Governor Brown also re-appointed
Mary Nichols as Chair of the California Air Resources Board.
Nichols held the job when Brown was Governor before - and under
Schwarzenegger. Brown also appointed his wife, First Lady
Anne Gust Brown as unpaid Special Counsel.
