Insight: Egypt Protests / Vang Pao Funeral / Nursing Shortage

Egypt Protests Protests in Egypt have become violent and many people, including Americans are leaving as hundreds of thousands of Egyptians take the streets in hopes that President Mubarak will resign. We'll talk about it with Imam Abdul-Azeez of SALAM Mosque who was born in Egypt; UC Davis professor Keith David Watenpaugh whose expertise includes the Arab middle class, revolution and modern Islamic movements; and Taylor Budowich, an American University of Cairo student who just returned from Egypt due to the uprising.

A Panel discussion on the Middle East turmoil will be held next Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., at 1100 Social Sciences and Humanities Building at UC Davis.

Nursing Shortage California is in demand of nurses. Are nursing programs too small for the demand? Are they equipping them well enough for technological changes in the future? Why are some nursing graduates still finding it hard to find jobs? We'll talk about this with Tanya Altmann with the Sacramento State Nursing Department; Monica Small, Regional Director of Clinical Workforce Development at Sutter; and Holli DeVon, Dean of the UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing.

Vang Pao Funeral The funeral of Hmong leader Vang Pao starts today in Fresno and will continue for several days. Sacramento Bee reporter Stephen Magagnini tells us what's happening at the scene.
