Insight: Roseville Redevelopment / State Safety Net / Another Look at High-Speed Rail / Ray Manzarek

Roseville Redevelopment The City of Roseville is considering scrapping its "crash tax" at its next city council meeting. Today on Insight, we'll talk with City Manager Ray Kerridge about it. We'll also talk with John Sprague, director of Roseville's Community Development Corporation, about the city's plans to move forward on its own redevelopment plans in light of the State of California considering ending its funding of redevelopment agencies to deal with budget shortfalls.

State Safety Net How strong is California's safety net? How does it compare to the welfare systems in other states? And what will happen if California's safety net budget is cut, as seems likely? Sacramento Bee Capitol Reporter Kevin Yamamura tells you what he's learned about the state's safety net as we continue our collaborative series, Brown's Countdown, an in-depth look at Gov. Jerry Brown's self-imposed 60 day countdown to a budget.

Another Look at High-Speed Rail The California Rail Foundation is a local non-profit dedicated to education on modern passenger rail and bust technology. They support high-speed rail in California, but disagree with how it's being done. We'll talk with Richard Tolmach, President of the California Rail Foundation, about it.

Ray Manzarek A documentary about legendary rock band The Doors won a Grammy last night for best long-form video. We recently spoke with keyboardist Ray Manzarek, co-founder of The Doors with Jim Morrison, about how the band came to be and why the surviving members of the group participated in the making of "When You're Strange." This segment originally aired Oct. 20, 2010.
