The air compressor whirs as a painter finishes off the Raley Field logo near home plate.  It is one of many little touches being added in the final hours before the opening.

As fans prepare to welcome the team back to the field, the fans also prepare to say goodbye to the Sacramento Kings.   Team President and General Manager Alan Ledford says that is a sad thought.

ALAN LEDFORD: "One of the important reasons to have a professional sports team like the Rivercats or the Kings is the cache that it provides.  That is a subjective thing.  It's hard to put a price on it. It's hard to identify specifically what that means, but I think we all understand it."

This cloud may have a maroon and gold lining.  The team stands to gain advertising revenue previously split between the two organizations.

Attendance might be up too, as the Rivercats try to lead the minor leagues in that category for the twelfth year in a row.
