Mullock is charged with falsifying police reports and lying under oath in 24 cases he worked from January of 2009 to January of 2010.   D.A. Jan Scully says the cases were mostly DUI cases and that the lies were varied, unnecessary and cast doubt on everything else Mullock did during the course of those investigations.

SCULLY: I would like to re-iterate how rare it is for prosecutors to see this kind of problem.  But when a peace officer violates the law he is sworn to uphold, when their misconduct undermines the integrity of the justice system, we must make it clear such conduct will not be tolerated.

Scully dropped charges against 79 people whose trials were pending, or who had already been convicted based on Mullock's work.

Mullock resigned from the department this past August.  He faces 23 years, 8 months if convicted.
