Players from all over Northern California will be competing against each other in a series of half-court, three-on-three basketball games.

John Wardlaw is the C-E-O of "RoundRock Three-On-Three."  He organized the event.

"We shut the city streets down and we actually play on the street.  And it's for all ages from third grade on up through 55 and older.  And we have a category or a bracket for pretty much most everyone."

Wardlaw says he modeled the basketball tournament after Spokane, Washington's popular "Hoopfest."  That event attracted more than seven thousand teams last year and brought in more than 57 million dollars.

Wardlaw says 130 teams have signed up for Sacramento's inaugural "Hoopfest."  The majority of the proceeds will go to Shriners Hospital for Children
