The Center for Neighborhood Technology's study says about 97 thousand seniors will have poor access to mass transit in the greater Sacramento area by 2015.  That is a 48 percent increase from 2000 primarily due to boomers reaching retirement age.  Stuart Cohen with Transform California says failing to expand transit now will be felt later.

STUART COHEN: "Some combination of seniors will really reduce the amount of access they have to society… to getting together with friends and family, to getting to health and medical appointments, to getting to services."

Sacramento ranks 12th in the study among large cities for its access.  Kansas City, Missouri ranks last.
