After the weekly Think Big Sacramento meeting, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson proudly showed off 14 letters of support from Chambers of Commerce that ranged from local groups to groups from Yuba-Sutter and Eldorado County.

JOHNSON: "We've had nearly all of our chambers give support on this particular issue.    That's unprecedented, and I just want to thank them.  We have regional chambers, we have the metro chamber, we have our ethnic chambers, we have the rainbow chambers."

Sac Metro Chamber 's Martha Clark Lofgren welcomes the growing support.

CLARK LOFGREN: "We need something to happen now.  We can't continue studying this.  We need to move forward, get the financial picture in place so we know how we're going to fund it  But, keep the momentum going."

But the letters of support don't necessarily guarantee funding.  Leaders of the think Big Coalition say they won't even attempt a sales tax, but they might try fees on tourists and event tickets.
Think Big has given itself until early September to identify funding sources.  It will then present its recommendations to the Sacramento City Council and other regional governing boards.
