The mayor is calling for an early- August summit for local businesses and government agencies.  In the meantime, the city is starting to make it easier for developers.  Max Fernandez is the City's Community Development Director.

FERNANDEZ: "In the next couple of months, we're kicking off Sacramento Streamline.  This includes a variety of initiatives that include online plan-checking, online permit servicing, reduced solar fees."

Josh Wood is with a builders group called Region Builders.  They agree with the city's course of action.

WOOD: "These are the things that make Sacramento successful and these are things that will help business, because time is money."

Councilman Jay Schenirer is calling on the city council to review every ordinance that affects developers and new business.  He says it should take about a year to remove ordinances that are unneeded.
