Insight: Ted Gaines / Self Checkout Alcohol Ban / Catriona McPherson / Brady McKay

Ted Gaines We'll speak with Republican State Senator Ted Gaines, who represents many local counties including parts of Sacramento, Placer, and Nevada.  He is an anti-tax voice on the Sacramento Arena coalition "Think BIG." He's also working to repeal an increasingly unpopular $150 rural fire fee and has recently introduced parole-reform legislation inspired by the Jaycee Lee Dugard case.

Self Checkout Alcohol Ban Proponents of Assembly Bill 183 say it's important to ban the sale of alcohol at self-checkout stands to prevent underage drinking and save jobs. But with employees already checking ID at these stands, is this law unnecessary? We'll checkout this issue with people from both sides of the aisle.

Catriona McPherson A mystery novelist from Scotland who lives near Davis has a new book out titled "Dandy Gilver and the Proper Treatment of Blood Stains."  The book launches tonight at the Avid Reader in Davis.

Brady McKay Local musician Brady McKay and her jazz band the Neurotypicals will perform a song from their latest album, "The New Eclectic," our studio.  Brady McKay and The Neurotypicals will be playing at Piatti's in Sacramento on August 26.
