The group is called Give Local Now and was co-founded by financial advisor, Scott Hanson.

HANSON:"We are essentially agnostic when it comes to where people to give. We don't really care where they give. People have different passions.  We want people to follow their passions and to give to what's important to them."

Julie Bornhoeft (BORN hawpht) with Women Escaping A Violent Environment says even a 20 percent increase in donations would help restore services.

BORNHOEFT: "Reality is, our need has only gone up in the recent years.  It would allow us to serve based on demand."

A study by the Greater Sacramento Generosity Group found fewer Sacramento households donate to charity than the national average, and those that do donate give 400 dollars less than the national average.

The Give Local Now group hopes its multimedia campaign will spur the Sacramento region…to at least become average.
