When you fly out of the new terminal, you'll actually be taking two trips. Your plane will be at the new concourse, but you will be at the terminal building which has ticketing and baggage check. Design Director Brent Kelley is with Corgan Associates
KELLEY: "The people mover is a dual-shuttle train system…a single car on each train with expansion to two cars on each train. It is about 1200 feet between the two buildings.
Kelley says the building tries to bring the outside in with agriculturally themed artwork and flooring. Three walls of the building are primarily glass with views of open fields to the north and a large garden to the south. The garden will disappear, if the terminal is ever expanded.
Any hazards at the old terminal B are slated to be removed by January. The building will be completely destroyed and replaced with some landscaping by March.
The airport would like to make Terminal B the main terminal some day, with Terminal A becoming just a second concourse. A second people mover would connect the two.
