The California Energy Commission has awarded $300,000 in stimulus funds for on-the-job training in Sacramento. The money will go to the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency or SETA. SETA will then pay 50%-to-70% of the salary and training for 43 new local green technology workers.
Congresswoman Doris Matsui announced the grant at Beutler Corporation's plant at McClellan.
MATSUI: "SETA's on-the-job-training has been immensely successful. They have placed job seekers in both training opportunities and full-time jobs. This grant builds off past successes."
SETA has used previous grants to create more than 300 jobs, including 54 at Beutler. The company is rebounding from the construction industry collapse. 86% of its workforce was laid off from 2005 to 2010.
