The event was more than a trade show. Sacramento
Mayor Kevin Johnson and U.S Representative Doris Matsui were among
speakers talking about green tech and public policy.
And the exhibit hall was crowded with everyone from small
start-ups to 8 minute energy, a Folsom based
company that hopes to convert farms in southern California to large
scale solar instillations. Project manager Dirk Volbrecht says it's
an endeavor that requires risk and more patience in the U.S.
VOLBRECHT: "If you look into the European markets the
business development process is about half the time
compared to the U.S. It's just you make the decision if
it goes on or not, you can make it earlier."
Volbrecht says 8 minute energy has several
projects in development that all told could deliver clean energy to
over a million homes in California.
