Mayor Kevin Johnson presented the award to honor the band's 25th anniversary.  .  Band member, Frank Hannon remembers playing at the old Oasis, which was right next door to where the museum is now.

HANNON: "We just can't believe that a couple long-haired kids from south Sacramento are actually getting something so prestigious like this."

Museum curator, and Capital Public Radio jazz host Dennis Newhall says the museum on 20th street has become a Second Saturday favorite.

NEWHALL: "We've found in the ten years since we started that we get a great reaction from the people coming in here checking out the memories of venues, of acts, of events that have to do with rock, rock music and the radio stations that pioneered it starting in the Sacramento area"

There is no charge to see the museum.
