Johnson described Sacramento's chances of keeping the Kings back in April as being equivalent to the odds of making a full court shot.  Now he says the shot is a three pointer and he's confident the city will make it.

JOHNSON: "Once we got a reprieve and put ourselves in the position where we had another year…I really felt this community would rally and step up and I think we have"

Johnson says talks with the NBA and the likely operator for a new arena, AEG, are going well.

The mayor says the city had other successes this year, like creating green jobs with the Ygrene initiative.  But he says Sacramento can better staff the police department and find a suitable Safe Ground for the Homeless.

Johnson says he should have an extended new wish list of things to accomplish for the new year by next week.
