The "Davis Stampede" is an annual half-marathon, 5K and 10K. Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of the event…and organizers say a lot of runners will be taking part.
"It'll probably be one of our top numbers. We're expecting about 4,200-4,400."
Dave Miramontes is with A Change of Pace Foundation - the group putting on the event. Runners will start just after 8 AM at Central Park in Downtown Davis. Miramontes says this year they've changed the race course to lessen the impact on traffic.
"In fact a majority of it is on bike paths so we have very little impact as far as the cars go. Early in the morning, downtown area for about 25 minutes will be a little congested. But still traffic tends to get through."
Miramontes says local cafés and restaurants don't seem to mind the congestion. It means more customers….with people buying coffee before the run…and buying lunch after.
