The city council last night voted against Councilwoman Sandy Sheedy's request to put the issue on the June ballot. The vote was five-to-four against the proposal with Councilman Steve Cohn among those voting "no".
"If we were to vote to put this on the ballot, let's be real clear, it would kill the arena deal in its tracks...our job is to try to put together something that makes sense for taxpayers."
The city has until March 1st to come up with a financing plan to build an arena and keep the Sacramento Kings basketball team…a deadline imposed by the NBA.
