For the second year in a row, they have scheduled a cleanup for a mile-long stretch of the Calaveras River that runs through the city.
Alexi D'Tiole is a junior at the school. She says she enjoys running along the river, but doesn't like the trash or the graffiti.
D'TIOLE: "People are always nice and open to helping me out so this my way of giving back to them. And it's always good to give back to the environment that you live in to make it better for everybody else."
This is the fifth year for the schools, "Day of Service." Last year's cleanup crew used 11 gallons of paint to cover graffiti and hauled more than two dozen large trash bags full of garbage taken out of the river.
