To mark Valentine's Day a group of Sacramento gays and lesbians called on Mayor Kevin Johnson to join other mayors in supporting gay marriage.
Sam Catalano delivered more than 330 petitions to the Mayor's office. Catalano is head of the gay and lesbian group, the Sacramento Stonewall Democrats. He says the Mayor should join with 28 other California mayors in the Mayors for the Freedom to Marry coalition.
CATALANO: "We're determined to eventually get the people of the United States to say, "You know, it's just fair. It's just right. Why shouldn't people marry a person that they love?"
Johnson didn't rule anything out.
JOHNSON: "I'll certainly look at what's being proposed and would love to meet with some of the members of the Stonewall Community and then make a decision in the short…in the not-too-distant future."
