It'll be "art-by-the-foot" tonight at the Crocker Art Museum.
All paintings, sculptures, and ceramics are no more than a foot tall by a foot wide.
Art curator Scott Shields says the event is a great way to introduce 120 local artists to established collectors and cultivate new ones.
SHIELDS: "It's a great chance for people that are not seasoned collectors yet to start,. In terms of the main art auction, I think about 80 percent of the artists that are in that auction are also in the Crocker's collection. So, these are really good artists."
The museum will hold its main "Art Auction" June second. It will include full-scale pieces -some of which will fetch several thousand dollars. Tickets for that event are already sold out.
Each of the small items up for auction tonight start at $25.
Proceeds go to the museum's operating fund.
