Prop 28 limits the number of years a politician can serve in the CA State Legislature, but does it do that? What makes news at the Woodland Daily Democrat? An aging brain can be healthy and productive; Autumn Sky & Sherman Baker duet in our studio.
Proposition 28 Proponents of Proposition 28 say the ballot measure will
reduce the time a California legislator can spend in office by up
to five years. But opponents say prop 28 will actually
increase the number of terms a legislator spends in the Capitol
because, while it reduces the total number of years in office to
12, it increases the amount of time a legislator can spend in each
chamber. We explore the merits of Proposition 28 to see how it will affect
Californians and whether it's good policy ornot. We'll speak
with Phillip Ung, Policy Advocate for California Common Cause, a non-profit lobbying
organization and Jon Fleishman, of the Flashreport.

A Healthy Aging Brain The fourth in a series
of Scientific American books on the brain, "The Scientific American Healthy Aging Brain:
The Neuroscience of Making the Most of Your Mature
Mind" is the latest book by Judith Horstman. It is an engaging
narrative about our brain as it ages with us. It presents a
realistic and encouraging overview of the well-aged brain, a
sobering look at what can go wrong, and the latest in what
neuroscience is finding that might help us stay healthy longer.
We'll speak with Judith Horstman who will expand on how there
is plenty of good news: While our brain does slow down with passing
years, far from disintegrating, the healthy mature brain fades
quite slowly. Short-term memory may not be what it once was,
but the elder brain remains able to change and learn well into old
age. Judith Horstman's upcoming book talks are at:
