The Olympic Games will not be returning to the Sierra or to any potential American venue in 2022.   The United States Olympic Committee declined today to put forth a bid to the International Olympic Committee for any American site to host the games.

An exploratory committee from Reno, Tahoe, and Sacramento had hoped the U.S. committee would consider supporting a California-Nevada partnership for 2022.   The USOC says it will focus on 2024 and 2026 bids instead.

The USOC refused to submit bids while it was negotiating a profit-sharing agreement with the International Olympic Committee.  That agreement was finalized last week.

Squaw Valley hosted the Games in 1960.
