UPDATE: 5:53 p.m. August 9, 2012

The West Sacramento Temple has organized a candlelight vigil on the West Steps of the State Capitol Friday eveninig at 7pm.  Organizers expect more than 500 people to attend.

West Sacramento temple member Harjit Grewal says the people she worships with were shocked that someone would violate the sanctity of a temple.  But she says the actions of someone in Wisconsin will probably not cause an increase in security here, "I don't think that here, that we're necessarily at that point, just because I feel the community has given us so much love. I don't necessarily see us putting security outside the temple, but I do know that everyone's walking around much more aware."

The Sikh temple in Sacramento also reports no increase in security. But, in Yuba City, where a large percentage of the population is Sikh, law enforcement is on a heightened state of alert.
