The Sacramento City Council will take up a new ordinance Tuesday night, regarding protests at City Hall.

Reyna Schwartz with the City says the ordinance would also make it illegal to be on City Hall property overnight, "In terms of the property itself, unlike the park, there is currently no overnight prohibition in place."

Schwartz says anyone can protest on the quad without a permit, but if the new law is approved, protests during business hours could not use amplified sound.   Cathy Grahnert with the Occupy Movement says there should be no fee nor application required at any time, "It's crazy. It's just crazy.  We can't, you know, to pay to come out to protest?"

The new ordinance would also make it illegal to destroy City Hall landscaping.

The City Manager would approve or deny any protest applications if the Council votes for the ordinance.
