Back to Afghanistan The war in Afghanistan continues 11 years after the September 11th terrorist attacks that spawned the conflict and people across the country are finding it impossible to return to normalcy.  Jess Ransom is a graduate of Luther Burbank High School and mother of two who suffered Traumatic Brain Injury a torn ACL in Afghanistan.  When she returned to the states to recover she suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  To add to Ransom's troubles, she has been notified she is being sent back to Afghanistan for a second tour of duty.  We're speaking with Jess about her plans to start a non-profit to benefit at-risk veterans.

Affirmative Action in College Admissions The Supreme Court of the United States is set to decide whether affirmative action in college admissions remains constitutional.  UCLA law professor Adam Winkler is arguing with the Supreme Court that the framers of the 14th Amendment supported race-conscious measures to help African Americans, especially in the field of education.

Cheryl "The Soccer Mom" Anderson Sacramento is home to a thriving comedy scene and a number of nationally-known comedians who will be featured at this week's Sacramento Comedy Festival.  We'll speak with one of the featured comedians, Cheryl "The Soccer Mom" Anderson, who switched from engineer/soccer mom to stand-up entertainer.  She is also the author of two books and her most recent "It's a Jungle Out There and a Zoo in Here," was an Amazon top 100 best-seller.  The Sacramento Comedy Festival runs through Saturday, September 15 at The Sacramento Comedy Spot and Luna's Café and Juice Bar in Sacramento.
