It's not unheard of to have 100 degree days in October…but it is pretty rare.
"The last time that Downtown Sacramento reached triple-digit heat in the month of October was back in 2001."
Brooke Bingaman is a forecaster with the National Weather
Service in Sacramento.
She says a high pressure system hovering over the West Coast
is causing air to sink towards the ground…getting warmer as it gets
closer to the earth's surface.
But an increasing onshore flow should cool things down by a
few degrees starting tomorrow.
"Once we get into Thursday, that cooling continues into
the weekend. So, Thursday into the weekend, our temperatures will
finally start getting back to near seasonal
temperatures."
Meaning temperatures will be in the low 80s…about a 15 degree
drop from today.
