Deborah Woods is with the Sacramento County Registrar's office . She says the mock elections program is geared for high school seniors, "Help them have a better understanding of what propositions and measures and different districts are all about so that when they do become 18, they'll have a better understanding of what it is they're voting for and why."

Grant High School Seniors were first to vote. Few were undecided when it came to president, but when it came to congress? Maria Salazar voted the party line. That made her uneasy, "I don't know what they're really going for, so I could go against their beliefs and still end up voting for them."

Jorge Vega didn't feel any better about his method of candidate selection, "To be honest, I just circled any name that, I don't know, I felt sounded like a good choice."

The remaining schools will vote between now and October 23.
