The resort will open one run and one terrain park.  Jon Slaughter with Boreal says this week's significant snowfall - along with low temperatures for snow-making will allow the resort to continue its tradition of opening in October.  He expects a big turnout this weekend:

Slaughter: "There's a huge pent up demand.  Everybody wants to get out there and make the first turns of the year."

Slaughter says there are big advantages to opening early.

Slaighter:"It's a great opportunity for us to show other people what Boreal is all about.  We get a lot of people that might not normally come to Boreal, but since no other resorts are open they give us a shot and a lot of times we convert them into loyal Boreal customers after that."

Slaughter says Boreal is hoping business will be better than last year, when attendance was down about five percent due to the limited snowfall.
