Both cities are making sandbags available to homes and businesses in at-risk areas.  The National Weather Service says the Truckee River in some places may rise above flood stage by several feet during the upcoming storms.

Adam Mayberry is with the city of Sparks. He says they've set up 11 sandbag distribution sites in the low-lying industrial area that borders the river:

Mayberry:  "We're extremely concerned…extremely concerned and we really want to stress how important it is that those businesses and residents in that area take the necessary action to protect their property and in doing so, protect themselves."

Mayberry says there are a couple of mobile home parks that may also have to be evacuated.  The city of Reno is offering sand-bags at three locations.  Reno is also cleaning drainage and irrigation ditches in preparation for the storms.
