Allen Wayne Warren and Steve Hansen are the newest members of the Sacramento City Council.

The Sacramento County Registration and Elections Department says the final margin of victory was 206 votes for Warren and 173 for Hansen.  Hansen's victory marks a first for Sacramento, "I'm very honored to be the first openly-gay person to serve on the City Council.  It's a thing whose time has come.  Certainly that's not why I ran, but it's a reflection I think of how far we've all come."

Hansen's opponent in the race, former councilman Joe Yee called Hansen with congratulations and offered to help move the City forward in any way he could.

In the Rancho Cordova City Council Race, Donald Terry won the third open seat by three votes over Brian Danzl.

If any of the losing candidates were to ask for a recount, he would have to pay a minimum of $20,000, according to a Sacramento County estimate.
