For the next week, nearly thirty downtown Sacramento restaurants will take part in a promotion designed to help them get through the slow time after the holidays.

During Dine Downtown Restaurant week, a starter, entrée and dessert cost $30.  The promotion generates more than a million dollars for downtown businesses according to Megan Emmerling of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership.

But even without the help of the promotion, she says the restaurant industry appears to be doing well, "The restaurants that opened last year and that were new to the promotion have all come back online and we have a couple of brand new restaurants that just opened in the last twelve months and they are involved as well."

Emmerling says the restaurants' offerings range from vegan to steakhouse,  "All the restaurants find the best way to work with that $30 price point.  So, you'll find at the Firehouse, you'll get an exemplary meal for your $30 with great customer service and that fine dining atmosphere. At Capitol Garage they add in little bonuses, like a glass of wine with their menu and really hearty portions."

Two restaurants with colorful names join the list this year --the Blackbird Kitchen and Bar and the Red Rabbit.   The restaurants post their menu options on the Downtown Partnership website.
