The new effort is called "Here We Buy." The group's website allows fans to pledge purchase of Kings season tickets at between $1500 and $10,000 per seat.
The local sports talk show host "Carmichael Dave" says the new website gives fans the ability to show they support the team, even if they aren't going to games now, "Show the prospective owners- as well as the NBA- that this is still a very hungry and viable market with fans who are willing to show up and use their wallets to show they love basketball and they're willing to support the basketball team here, just not under the current regime."
Carmichael Dave says the information gathered by the site will be used to help new ownership, "We are going to amass a database of fans and businesses along with contact info and pledges of support and we will be turning that database over to the Kings' sale staff upon sale of the team, upon agreement on a downtown arena or both of those triggers combined."
Within the first eleven hours of the website's operation, 18-hundred fans had pledge about six-million dollars in season ticket salesThe "Here We Stay" campaign started last year when it appeared all but certain the Maloof family would move the team to Anaheim.
