The Sacramento City Unified School Board was scheduled to vote this week whether to close either Mark Twain Elementary or Tahoe Elementary.
But Superintendent Jonathan Raymond is now recommending the Board keep both schools open. In his recommendation, Raymond cites input from the two school communities, as well as a desire throughout the district to put the "difficult matter to rest."
A little over a week ago, the Board voted to close seven schools due to declining enrollment. Raymond says the district should now devote its energy to the transition process at those seven campuses.
The Board meets Thursday to consider his recommendation.
