Merchants who want to sell goods and services to Stockton's new prison health care facility can attend an informational fair today.

The facility will need millions of dollars worth of supplies as it gets ready to open.

The California Health Care Facility in Stockton will start taking the first of its 17-hundred inmate-patients in July.

Bill Sessa with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says the facility will resemble a small city with 24-hundred employees on site.

SESSA: "Needs everything from medical supplies to food to cleaning materials, any number of things you would need to keep an institution running."

The vendor fair will be held at the Stockton Hilton from 1 to 3 this afternoon.

The fair will provide merchants with the information on the state bidding process.

And Sessa says the new health care facility will bring a major economic boost to the economy.

SESSA: "Can imagine then once we start buying goods and services, it takes millions of dollars per year to support a facility like this."

More than 150 prospective vendors have registered for the fair.
