The Manteca Police Department now orders shipments of 40-50,000 rounds of ammunition at a time.
Chief Nick Obligation says orders have to be placed well ahead.
OBLIGATION: "Generally we have to wait 4-6 months and this has been a past trend for the last 3-4 years."
The Lodi Police Department is in a similar situation.
Officer Jim Pendergast says the use of ammunition on the firing range has had to change.
PENDERGAST: "We just maybe do some other similar exercises that don't require us to use as much ammunition as during traiing but we still train just as much as we have."
Lodi is still waiting on ammunition ordered 8 months ago.
