Insight: Capitol Chat / Rethinking Crime in Placer County / Sacramento International Film Festival

Capitol Chat Sometimes there's a theme to the big action at California's Capitol and that was true this week with lawmakers focusing on education legislation. Our Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler joins us from downtown with details. We'll also hear about the latest gun bill to make it to Governor Brown's desk.

Correction: During today's Capitol Chat, we incorrectly stated that Sen. Darrell Steinberg's bill that would create online college courses passed its first committee this week.  In fact, while a majority of senators on the committee indicated they'd likely support the measure, a vote was delayed until next week.  We regret the error.

Rethinking Crime in Placer County A group of community members have come together to work on issues related to realignment and the criminal justice system in Placer County. The Placer People of Faith Together is sponsoring a community education forum this Saturday about these issues, "Rethinking Criminal Justice in Placer County." We'll talk with Patricia Jensen and Barbara Ford about the community collaboration and how realignment is affecting everyday citizens in Placer County.

Sacramento International Film Festival Dan Heflin's new film based on the German legend of the siren Lorelei will be screening Saturday night at the Sacramento International Film Festival. It was filmed in and around Grass Valley and Auburn and features an impressive score, composed by Heflin himself. He joins us in studio to talk about "Naedelei" and why he had his alma mater, San Jose State University, contribute to the score.
